Happiness in the Highlands of North Iceland
First we drive to Varmahlíð and from there we head up to the highlands to Laugafell, a natural hot spring pool. Then drive to Sprengisandur, a black sanded desert and from there to Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, crossing Gæsavatnaleið which is the toughest highland road in Iceland. Next destination is Drekagil at Dyngjufjöll, then we will visit Askja and Viti, which is a 25-30 degrees C hot geothermal, sulfurous lake, in which one can bathe. pool. From there we drive to Herðubreið and to Mývatn before reaching a destination in Akureyri.
